• IEPのレベル4〜5で受講するアカデミッククラスは、IEPの先生が同行し一緒に受講する。受講できるアカデミッククラスは限定的。
• 学生寮は時期によってすぐ埋まってしまうため、注意が必要。手配料の $300を支払った順番にアサインされる。秋、春、冬、夏の順番で混雑する。
• Gap Year Programがあり、カリフォルニア、ハワイなどと提携していて、1学期グリーンリバーカレッジともう1学期は他州のカレッジで勉強できるプログラムがある。https://www.greenriver.edu/international/programs/gap-year/
• International Student Advisorsは現在6名。アドバイザーは専攻ごとに分かれているため、自身の専攻についてより的確なアドバイスがもらえる。ただし現在は日本語を話せるアドバイザーはいない。
• 桜美林大学と提携があり、毎年秋学期に30名、Aviationのプログラムを履修することとなっている。
• Club fairが秋学期と冬学期に開催され、クラブ紹介がある。夏学期はClub Fairはないが、Student Activityが充実しているそう。
• グリーンリバーを検討している生徒がいて、学校やプログラムについて直接Marcさんとオンラインで面談を希望される場合には、対応していただけるとのこと。（弊社は同席してもしなくてもどちらでもOK。）

• 留学生向けの奨学金：200〜500ドルぐらいならある。最大1000ドル
• キャンパス内でのバイト：探せばあるが、自分から探す必要がある。スチューデントサービスのスタッフが履歴書の書き方やSINの取り方を教えてくれる。週20時間までだが、平均10〜15時間ぐらいの学生が多い。
• ホームステイ：手配料の300ドルのうち、100ドルはホストファミリに提供している。空港出迎えや、学生のために最初に必要となるようなものはそこからホストが買って用意しておくらしい。学校までの通学時間が45分以内の家でないとホストファミリになれないらしい。銀行開設、SIMや携帯電話の購入などはホストファミリが手伝ってくれる。
• レジデンス：到着時に必要となるであろうタオルなどの日常品や消耗品はある程度買っておいてくれるらしい。
• Foundation for Success (FFS) ：新入生の留学生は最初の学期に参加が必須。毎週のワークショップに参加したり、Peer Mentorと会って、相談する、一緒に食事をする、アクティビティをするといったことを通して、新しい環境になれていくことが目的。Peer Mentorをしてくれるのは、留学生で、ちゃんと報酬をもらっている。ひとりのMentorは5人ぐらいの留学生に対応。
• 大学編入：GRCが提携している大学リスト。規定のGPAを満たせば、編入が保証される。

• UWへの編入：タコマとボゼルを含めたら、20〜25％ぐらいの留学生が合格
• 日本人：約80名（アカデミックと英語の両方）。留学生数は全体で約650名。
• 留学生の国籍：現在は64ヶ国。日本・韓国・インドネシア・ベトナムが多い。ケニア10名、オランダ10名、ザンビア2-3名。アブダビから毎年10名が英語コースにくる。
• 人気がある専攻：IT、コンピュータサイエンス、ビジネス、航空学。
• 航空学はGRCで学士号まで取得可能。航空管制官・空港管理・運航管理など。パイロット希望の学生は、近隣にフライトスクールがいくつかあるので、それらを利用してフライト時間をクリアする。GRCで2年間勉強して、その後、Embry-Riddle Aeronautical Universityに編入して学士号を取得することも可能。
• ESL：5レベル。レベル4〜5は、アカデミッククラスをひとつ受講可能。クラスは大体決まったものになるが、ESLの先生が一緒に受講してくれるので、わからないことがあれば、ESLの先生に質問して教えてもらえる。
• ESLでのレベルアップ：読む聞く書く話すのスキル全部が合格しないと、次のレベルに進級できない。ちゃんと勉強していたら進級できないことはないけど。ESLはひとつのレベルで2クラスはある。もし、進級できなければ、同じ先生のクラスではなくて、違う先生のクラスを取るようにしたりする。
• High School Completion：UC系に編入する場合、高校の修了証明書と準学士号の証明書の取得が少なくとも1学期間はあいていないといけないので、最初に高校の修了証明書が発行できるようにする。UC系はGED（＝日本の高認みたいなもの）はだめらしい。

1) She should be at Level 4 in Spring 2022.
She prefers to apply to GRC before she obtains an English score. When is the due to submit the score to meet the English requirement to be placed at Level 4?

Your student can easily apply to Green River before she has obtained an English score.

In fact, most of our students do this. We can give her a Green River Intensive English placement test that will determine her level so she doesn’t have to pay for anything. We can do this before or after she applies, and it is conducted over Zoom.

Because we have our own placement test, there is no due date to submit English scores. We can tell her what level she will begin at.

Since your student is planning to start her studies in Spring 2022, we cannot guarantee that the Intensive English classes will remain online. We moved them to online due to Covid, and they will remain online through at least Fall 2021. We hope that we can continue to offer online Intensive English classes, but it is not guaranteed in Spring 2022. I will let you know as soon as a decision is made.

2) Do you accept TOEIC score?
TOEIC is mentioned in IEP page, but not in English requirement page, so I’m wondering.

Yes, we accept the TOEIC score, and we are working to update our English requirements page on the website. TOEIC is a new to our approved list, so we are still evaluating the use. Please use the table below to see the different test scores and where students might place in our Intensive English Program (IEP). But, please remember that a TOEIC score is not required, and students can take the Green River placement test to learn what level they will start at.

3) Do you need the syllabus of subjects in English to check to see if she meets prerequisites?
Or transcripts in English is good enough?

To review the classes/credits she has already taken, we can use only the transcripts in English. However, it will always help if there are syllabus or course descriptions in English as well. But I know this may be difficult to get, or expensive to have translated. Usually, we only use official transcripts only.

International Recreation and ActivitiesのコーディネーターをしているMarcさん。
・全留学生1,760人：日本人120人
・約80％の生徒が州外に編入する
・カフェ同様新しくなったフィットネスセンターは、約350人（70～80％留学生）が毎日利用している。午後9時まで空いていて、週6日間利用可能。
・利用は無料で、ダンススタジオもあり、ZumbaやYogaのクラスが開催されていることもあるそう。
・Bachelor Degreeも取れるようになった（Business,Aviation等）4年制大学よりは安く済むので、費用重視の人には良いのかも。
・Bridge Program (一年前くらいから)
レベル5の生徒はみんな、学部コースのクラスに出れる。授業の際インストラクターが一緒に座っていてくれるので、その後質問したり、ノートテイキングのやり方を教わったりと、カレッジへ入るまえに理解力をより身に着けることが出来る
取れる単位は、3～5 credit、生徒の英語力によって。受講したcreditはキープできる
・大学と提携を結んでいて、既定のGPA、クラスを取っていればPartner Universitiesに編入可。提携校は定期的に増やしている。
・ハウジングは、学校が管理していてハウジングチームもいるので、問題があったときも学校のスタッフと直接話し合い解決できる。
Placement Feeの$300には携帯契約や銀行開設サポートもあり。refundableで、ホームステイの場合は$100が最初の月の滞在費に含まれる。
キャンパス内の寮は、タオル・シーツ・フライパンなど付属。
・料金や日程は2016年のものですが、学校HPのPartners→Marketing Materials→Japaneseで必要事項がまとまったパワポあり
・International StaffだったKimさん（パワポにも載っている）は、Aviationメジャーのマネージャーになった。留学生の扱いに慣れているので安心
・保険について

The requirement is that students have medical insurance coverage while they are an international student at Green River. But it is up to the student and their family to decide if they will use the insurance provided by Green River College, or their own insurance from Japan . It is important that the students and their families research the coverage abroad/in America so they know how much things will cost as well as what is or is not covered.

Many of our European students use medical insurance from their home countries. I also have had some Japanese students using insurance from Japan while they are studying at GRC.

日本からの保険でも、学校の保険でも加入していればどちらでも良いそうです。

2016/10/08 ELS FAM訪問

シアトル・ダウンタウンから車で約40分、オーバーンの森の中に学校はあった。到着するまでは本当に緑の中を走る。広大な駐車場の先にカフェテラスのあるメインの建物がある。

学校ではホールでランチビュッフェがてらプレゼン。プログラムに関しての追加情報はないが、アカデミック、アコモデーションおよびアクティビティコーディネーターからそれぞれ説明があった。アコモデーションに関しては学校すぐ側のレジデンスに関してなかなか空きが出ないので希望する方はできるだけ早く応募するように、との説明。またアクティビティコーディネーターはスポーツアクティビティ（今度来社します）をコーディネートしていて、いわゆる部活動ではない、他校との交流の為のサッカーなどのアクティビティを実施、留学生に参加を呼びかけ現地学生との交流を促しているそう。

その現地日本人学生が学校内を案内してくれ、各学部ごとの建物案内、それから留学生が進路などに関して相談するオフィス、英作文やエッセイを訂正してくれるチューターデスク、少し離れた場所にある航空学のキャンパスを案内してくれた。最後にオフキャンパスレジデンスにもお邪魔したが時間がない為、入り口を撮影して終わった。全体的にレジデンス含めいえることだが、非常に建物が綺麗。参加していた学生の年齢はやや低めだったように思う。また日本人学生からは「英語コースは確かに厳しいといわれていますが、普通に勉強していれば落とすことはないです。あまり勉強に集中できない人はハイラインなどに移りました。あと田舎すぎるので飽きてしまい、シアトルセントラルやベルビューに行くひとも少なからずいます」との話をきいた。

近辺にコミカレが乱立するがこの学校一番の魅力はInternational School Support

10名のカウンセラーをかかえ、随時学生の相談にのっている

火曜・木曜にいろんな講習会を実施していて、お茶を飲んだり情報交換ができる

（食い物につられる人が多いとのこと）

またカウンセラーはそれぞれ得意分野をもち、進学についてもアドバイスしてくれる

☆滞在方法について

ホームステイアレンジは大学で行う（Melanieさんはその担当）

ホームステイは一ヶ月はトライアル、3食付

学生寮もあるが人気があるので要確認、1部屋2人で1ユニット4部屋、2部屋4人でシャワーをシェア

学生寮は年間契約・学期契約選べるが、年間契約は値引きがあるもののオススメしない（他の選択肢が出る可能性があるので）

日本人の女の子にはホームステイがオススメ、とStephanieさん

☆英語コースについて

かなり厳しい、とStephanieさんが自分で言っていた

5段階、LEVEL1～3は別キャンパス（Kent、シャトルバスで20分くらい)で実施、このレベルはメインキャンパスに入れない

LEVEL4、5はメインキャンパス内でレッスン

LEVEL5になるとTOEFLプログラムやブリッジプログラムを選択可能

ただし、ブリッジプログラムを受けられるのは成績優秀者数名のみで講師が選ぶため、選択できない

既定のスコアがあったらコンパスは受けるが、ESLはいかない

☆UTPについて

まずEmbry Riddle Aironautical Universityの進学を「かなり高額」といいつつ、紹介していた

Aviationプログラムに関しては高額・ハイテクな設備をそろえている（神奈川工科大学と提携を結んでいる）

このプログラムを終えた日本人女性がアラスカ航空のパイロットになり地元紙に掲載されたとのこと

あとはワシントン大学、ワシントン州立大学が多い

その他卒業生にベトナム人でシャイだった子がハーバードでケミカルサイエンスのPh.Dをとったことを喜んでいた

申し込み用紙に基本的に一校、Transferしたい学校を記入できる

緑に囲まれたキャンパスで自然いっぱい、スキー･スノボ好きにもオススメ

南の山を越えた先にあるグリーン川は透明度抜群だそう

指定の到着日があるので、その日に到着するようにすること。もし、早く到着する場合は、ホテルを自己手配して、ホテルに滞在すること。空港出迎えは、指定日にSea-TacのBaggage Claimに戻って利用する形になります。
Sea-Tacの空港出迎えはBaggage Claimになりますが、これは入国審査や税関検査が終わった後、再度荷物を預けて、空港内の電車で到着ロビーに移動して、再度、荷物をピックアップする形になります。なので、一般の方が自由に出入りできるところにあります。
何時に空港に行けばいいのかは、出発日程が近づいてきたら、学校に確認すること。

本人が自分で申し込みをしてしまった場合でも、GRCCに連絡したらTake Over が可能です。
ただし、場合によってはできない可能性もあるので、本人の名前と状況を伝え、Take Overをしたときに、コミッションの対象になるかどうかを確認し、OKであれば、手数料無料で手続きを受けてOKです。

16歳でカレッジへの入学はOKのようです・・・
とはいっても、16歳でGRCCに送ってしまう場合はそのデメリットも説明してから手続きを受けてください。

Her daughter would like to enroll at English program from January 2013 and then move up to High School Completion program / Associate program. She would like to study English for one year and then obtain High School Diploma together with Associate degree in two years.

The certificate cannot be issued until a student becomes 18 years old.

So what she can submit is only transcript/graduation certificate issued by junior high school.
According to your web site, the applicant must be 16 years old and the transcripts are recommended document to be submitted but not mandatory.
In this case, is it possible for her to be accepted by your English / High School Completion / Associate programs without providing any transcripts?

GRCCは、申込みをするとすぐにSEVIS番号をメールしてくれます。
We are aware of significant delays in scheduling visa interviews. In China, for example, it is about a two month wait for visa interviews. One thing GRCC can do to assist is to scan and send the admission letter and the student’s SEVIS number and send both via email as soon as the student is admitted. This will allow your students to apply for a visa and set a student visa appointment with the US consulate. The original admission letter and I-20 will be sent via Express Mail as usual. Please request this through our admission officer at international@greenriver.edu.
