Admissions process update as of August 21, 2024

We have implemented changes to our admissions process, effective for the Winter 2025 term and beyond. These changes may have an impact on your students’ deposit process and due dates. Please ensure students who receive a new Letter of Acceptance (LoA) review their tuition details carefully.

These changes reflect our commitment to continuously improving the admissions process, ensuring a smoother experience for both agents and students.

＊金沢大学と提携しているので、短期の学生が春学期と秋学期に8名づつくる
＊EAPとShort EAPの違い：EAPは50％合格で次のレベル、Short EAPは80％合格で次のレベル
＊EAPは週25時間
＊レベル4とレベル5の場合、学部クラスの受講も可能だが、夜や週末のクラスになる可能性もあり
＊EAPでも、オンキャンパスならバイトが可能（週12時間まで）
＊EAPレベル5のたくろうさんという学生が日本人学生のサポートとしてバイトをしている
＊GAP Yearもある

英語コースで出願をし、オリエンテーションでの英語スコア提出で学部コースに入れるか尋ねたところ、以下のように返答がありました。学部コースは満席になるのが早いため、最初の学期から学部というのは難しいようです。

if the IELTS scores show that the student does not need EAP, a meeting is scheduled with our student adviser (Kelsey Dobsi Queen) to discuss possible options.

Although I cannot give a definite answer, I can say that post-secondary and post-graduate programs do fill it up quickly, so there there is less of a likelihood to be admitted into a program at the time of orientation. Our website has more information about the application process and different options for International students.

空港出迎え依頼はオンラインのみ受付。
Thank you for your understanding that we stopped accepting paper forms. Part of the reason is to protect sensitive information, such as credit card numbers.

ナイアガラの滝からものすごく近い学校、Niagara College.バッファローまで車で約20分、トロントまで来るまで約1時間の場所にあります。土地柄的にも観光客が多く、ワイナリーもたくさんあるところです。
2014年の夏にはアウトレットモールが完成し、トロント方面から買い物に来る人もいるくらい大きなモールだそうです。
ナイアガラの滝の近くにキャンパスが3つあり、それぞれ滝から約15分の場所にあります。滞在方法はホームステイもレジデンスも両方可能、ですが安く済ませたいのなら断然ホームステイ。3食付で月々＄690、学校まで遠くても30分。近いところだと1分。スクールバスもあり4ヶ月8,400円で乗り放題です。3つのキャンパス間を行き来するバスもあるそうです。
寮もありますが、寮は先着順。現地の学生と留学生合わせて400名しか入れないそうなので、オンラインで前もって予約しておかないとダメみたいです。春くらいから予約しておけば良いのではないかということです。9月か1月のどちらかから利用可能です。しかし、寮はリース制になるので、絶対寮!!という方にオススメのようです。
ナイアガラ･オン･ザ･レイクとウェランドのキャンパスには寮があり、ナイアガラ･オン･ザ･レイクの方は、キャンパスからバスで10分～15分バスに乗ってモールに行く必要があるが、ウェランドの方はキャンパスから歩いていける距離にモールがある。
各キャンパスにアドバイザーが毎日8:30～16:00までいます。その受付でバイトすることも可能。
Co-op制度あり、有給($11～$17)です。

英検準一級持っていれば入学可能。
ESL+α何か授業取ることも可能。夕方からのコースも取れるが、Level5無いとついていくのがつらいかも。
ボランティアも無給で参加可能。内容はイベント関係のものが多い。　参加したボランティアの内容を卒業時にきちんとした書類で出してくれるのだが、それはNiagara Collegeだけとのこと。
アクティビティが盛んで、たくさんの種類がある。高額なツアー内容になると現地での支払いが必要になるが、安いものだと、コースに含まれている金額で賄えるので無料で参加できる。
学士号を取れるコースはツーリストとビジネス2種類の合わせて3つのコース。
留学生は全体で約360名。内日本人は通常3~5名。しかし、秋になると関西外語大学から20名程団体でくるので、その一時期間は日本人留学生が多くなる。日本人同士で固まっている様子は無く、日本人2名と他の学生で固まっているとのこと。

今まではフォームを手書きで書いて郵送していたが、これからはオンラインで入力する方法に変わりました。期間はかかっても3日だそうです。

学校のウェブサイトにはありませんが、2014年現在も英検準1級のスコアは受け付けてもらえます。

追記： トロント大学とナイアガラは現在Agreementを持っていないため、トロント大学の英語プログラムのレベルを使っての出願は出来ないそうです。（2014/7/29）

Q1) Do you use TOEIC as the language assessment test upon arrival for those who are interested in AECUS program?

A1) We do not use the TOEIC assessment for student’s interested in the AECUS program, but a similar in-house assessment. Students interested in AECUS would complete the same assessments as students entering our English for Academic Preparation (EAP) program. It is these results we would look at to determine if they are candidates for AECUS.

Q2) If a prospective student already have TOEIC 750 and above, would it be guaranteed for them to enroll at AECUS program regardless the results of your language assessment test upon arrival?

A2) In the past we accepted a TOEIC score of 750 and above, but when students arrived at the college, they were still required to complete a writing assessment, as this was not part of the TOEIC language assessment.

Our admissions requirements have changed, and students are now required to complete our in-house assessments prior to entering the AECUS program. My apologies for any miscommunication, we have been updating our website and had not yet changed the AECUS page.

Q3) Is it possible for students at AECUS program to receive a certificate to show that they have studied post-secondary courses when they leave the college?

A3) We do not have a certificate that shows AECUS students studied in post-secondary courses. Students can request an official transcript, however, which shows the courses they were enrolled in and their final grades. Both EAP and post-secondary courses would be included on the transcript.

Students could also receive a certificate that shows they completed Level 5 of our EAP program. Since they would essentially be exempt from some of our Level 5 EAP courses, if they successfully complete the courses they are enrolled in, they would be eligible for this certificate.

AECUSプログラムだと英語＋カレッジの組み合わせでの受講が可能です。
When students who are interested in this program arrive at Niagara College, they complete language assessments to determine their level of English. Based on the results of these assessments, students will be placed accordingly. If the results dictate, they may not be eligible for the AECUS program, and potentially be enrolled in our English for Academic Preparation (EAP) program.

If, based on our assessments, students place into an advanced level, then they would be considered eligible for the AECUS program. Students would meet with our advisors to determine how many/which EAP courses and how many/which post-secondary courses they will enrol in. For example, they may enrol in our Speaking & Listening course, and take three post-secondary courses in a term.

As each student has unique needs, there is not a set tuition cost for our AECUS program. Costs are determined the following way:

$170 per ESL credit hour (each course is typically 5 credit hours)
$395 per post-secondary credit hour (each course is typically 3 credit hours)

Students would also be responsible for the following fees:

– Medical Insurance ($60/month)
– Activities Service Fee ($280/term)
– Homestay ($650/month)
– Other fees (including textbooks, parking, etc.)

Note that all costs listed above will be valid through August, 2013. They may then be reevaluated and adjusted for the new academic year.

Since the AECUS program involves courses in our EAP program, the terms are the same. The program begins in September, January, and May each academic year, and runs for 15 weeks (14 weeks of classes and a mid-term break week).

Yes we still do accept Eiken scores.  All students undergraduate and graduate must have Pre – 1  for entry.
